Recently, I have noticed that I have started receiving ads online for products that I have only discussed in normal conversation. Both times, these ads were for specifically discussed products and both were within hours of discussing them. One was a very specific and lesser known beverage I hadn't even heard of before, after a conversation between my wife and I while we were in the grocery store. The other was for flour after talking with my wife about needing flour for homemade pizza. I can't find any specific apps on my phone with permissions for location or microphone. I can only assume that it is Google that is "listening", as I have an Android phone. How can I tighten the restrictions that Google can see?
Turn voice search off for a start, but I forgot how it can be done exactly, better to google or ask AI/LLM.
There's also all the random apps on the phone trying to get in on the action.

Good post.
I got a Google Pixel 8 Pro with 128gb but haven't de-Googled it yet.
So I'll be searching for security solutions soon too.
I mean to aggregate this info on Projex.Wiki - and hopefully de-Google other local folks' phones.
Also, recently I've been getting some surprisingly good religious and atheist content recommended by YouTube. Not sure why. I haven't been discussing it. IMO this is faith part of the culture wars. Questioning religions is the lowest hanging fruit on the skeptics' tree. Oddly it's often the most difficult to dissuade magic-thinking folks on. Superstitions exist for many reasons.
